This pattern was created to bring together various prickly pear cactus motifs from Palestine as well as two original motifs. The prickly pear cactus is not native to Palestine, but it has become a symbol of steadfastness and resistance and was traditionally used as natural fencing - often all that is left of ethnically cleansed Palestinian villages.
