May Tatreez Circle
Join us for our next tatreez circle in Phoenix, AZ on Sunday, May 25th at 2:30pm! Bring a current project to work on while spending time with tatreez practitioners of all levels. Cookies and tea or coffee will also be provided. ✨
Hosted by two local Palestinian tatreez artists, Michelle and Farah, these monthly tatreez circles are designed to be a healing space to connect with Palestinian culture, engage in meaningful conversations, and support each other through the ups and downs of life - much like it was originally practiced. Joining a tatreez circle is a chance to slow down and break away from productivity culture.
Note: If you do not have a project and need supplies, we will have thread, aida cloth, and needles available for you to use on a pay-what-you-can basis. Simply name your price in the designated box when signing up. If you don't have your own supplies and can't afford it, please type in "$0" - no questions asked. We don't want money to be a barrier to being part of our local tatreez community.
Each month will have a designated theme to gently prompt our discussions. This month's theme will be centered on the following question: "What does a free Palestine look like to you?"
This is a supportive environment where beginners are welcome and more experienced stitchers are usually happy to answer simple questions, but this is not a workshop and we will not be actively teaching tatreez. You are also welcome to bring other needlepoint projects or similar traditional crafts to work on.
Location is in Phoenix near Tempe (less than 15 minutes west of ICC) and the exact address will be provided after signing up.
This event is free to attend if you are bringing your own project and supplies (simply type 0 under "Name a fair price"), but contributions are appreciated.
